I'm 19 and after driving a terrible terrible Suzuki called Khyber for 6 months I am getting an upgrade for University, a choice between Honda Accord Euro R 2002 and my dream car since I was 10, a Mercedes E series W 123 300D 1977. I know its got a 3 liter 5-cylinder diesel engine, although I have no idea what that means. All I want to know is from some one who may have driven something like it, is it difficult to handle? Would it be wiser to choose the Accord for now? Think of this basically as a first car, the Suzuki was more like glorified segway.

The old W123 E-class are great cars -- extremely reliable, easy to repair, they're safe, and they get good gas mileage. The downside is they are painfully slow. Going up hills, you'll be passed by big trucks and grandmas in station wagons.

But as long as you're not driving on the Autobahn, they'll last you a very long time. And they've got a lot of charm, too.
